The Google Pixel 6a is a great phone, but it’s not always easy to use. Whether you’re new to Android or just don’t like change, there are some basic things that can make your experience much better. These tips will help you get the most out of your new phone and make it easier for you to navigate around the operating system.
Create a Google Account on your phone.
- If you don’t already have a Google Account, it’s easy to create one. Go to Settings on your phone and select Sign in with Google. Enter your email address, password and security code (if prompted).
- Choose whether or not you want to sync across all devices that are signed into your account by tapping Merge accounts or Keep separate (you can always change this later).
- Select Continue if the sign-in was successful or try again if it wasn’t successful the first time around!
Navigate to the app drawer and set up the apps.
Once you’ve navigated to the app drawer, and set up your apps, it’s important to know how to navigate your phone. The Google Pixel 6a is a simple device with minimalistic features that makes it easy for anyone of any age or skill level to use.
The home button will take you back to the home screen from anywhere on the phone unless you are in an app; then pressing it will simply exit out of that program.
There’s also an option for multitasking with one hand by simply swiping down from anywhere on the screen with two fingers at once. This feature gives users access to notifications and quick settings so they can respond more efficiently than ever before!
Go to Settings and set up Wi-Fi.
The first thing you need to do when setting up your phone is connect to Wi-Fi. Head over to Settings and then tap Network & Internet. From there, choose Wi-Fi and then tap on the network that you’d like to connect with. You may be prompted for a password if it’s a private network or have been given one by the owner of that connection; enter it as required, then hit Next or Connect (depending on what your phone says). Finally, activate the Wi-Fi by tapping Activate at the bottom of this panel; now you’re connected!
Activate the SmartLock feature.
The SmartLock feature allows you to securely unlock your Pixel 6a with a trusted device, such as an Android Wear smartwatch or a Bluetooth wearable. This can be useful if you want to quickly check the time on your watch and don’t want to go through the hassle of unlocking your phone or typing in your passcode.
To turn on SmartLock, follow these steps:
- Go to Settings > Security & location > Smart Lock or Settings > Security & location > Lock screen preferences (on older versions).
- Select Trusted devices, then choose Add trusted device from the menu that appears at the bottom of this screen; if this option doesn’t appear on older versions of Android Pie, tap Advanced settings at the bottom right corner instead (you’ll need an Advanced option for some smartwatches and wearables).
- Follow instructions provided by your connected device for connecting it via Bluetooth
Get the best security for your Google Pixel 6a.
If you want to make sure your phone is safe, the best way to do that is with a password manager. Password managers allow you to create and store unique passwords for all of your accounts, so if someone were to steal your phone or get into it by some other means and try to access one of these accounts they would not be able to do so.
Password managers can also help generate strong passwords that are extremely difficult for hackers or anyone else trying to break into your account. A strong password should have upper and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols in it as well as being one word long (at least 8 characters). All of this makes for an extremely hard-to-crack password.
If someone tries accessing their own phone while it’s locked they will be unable use their fingerprints because they aren’t registered on there yet! The same goes if someone tries accessing other people’s phones too – unless they’re registered beforehand (or after retrieving physical possession), then no dice!
Set a lock screen message.
In order to set a lock screen message, go to Settings > Lock Screen & Security > Other Security Settings. You’ll see an option for “Show ‘Slide to Unlock’ message” and you can enter in whatever you want here. It’s a good idea to use an emoji or something that is immediately recognizable so that people know who the phone belongs to (if they’re not looking at it already). For example, if your last name starts with R then enter in “R” as your lock screen message so people will know who the phone belongs too!
It’s also good practice to change this every once in awhile so that no one will be able to figure out which pattern matches up with what letter of the alphabet each time they try guessing what might be written there.
Activate Google Assistant or Siri.
Google Assistant and Siri are the two voice assistants on your Pixel 6a. They can be used to set alarms, make calls and send messages. You can also use them to activate Google Assistant or Siri by saying “Hey Google,” or “Hey Siri” respectively.
You can also add a shortcut to your home screen so that you don’t have to say those long phrases every time you use these apps! Simply tap the middle of the bottom bar on your Pixel 6a (the one with three dots) and then tap “Shortcuts.” From there, choose either “Siri” or “Google Assistant” from the list of options. Then when you’re ready to use it just tap on this new shortcut instead!
Change and customize the background image of your home screen.
Google Pixel 6a has a wide range of options to choose from, and one of them is the ability to change your home screen’s background image. You can do this by opening Settings and scrolling down until you see “Wallpaper.” Here, you’ll find dozens of pre-installed images and colors for you to use. You can also add new ones from Google Photos or take your own pictures using Pixel 6a’s camera app.
Once you’ve selected an image for your home screen, it will appear along with its corresponding color scheme on both sides (for instance, if you select an orange wallpaper with white navigation buttons). This can be changed by going back into Settings > Wallpaper > Colors & Accents > Navigation Bar Colors. Select any color combination that pleases your eye!
Organize your apps into folders and keep them organized by color.
Organize your apps into folders and keep them organized by color.
The Pixel 6a lets you create and organize folders on the home screen, making it easier than ever to stay organized. To create a folder, long-press one app icon and drag it over another app icon—it’s that simple! And even though there are many different ways to do this (say if you want to move multiple apps at once), Google has made it so easy that even kids can figure out how to do it in just a few seconds.
Install and activate a third-party keyboard app on Google Pixel 6a.
If you want to type in different languages on Google Pixel 6a and send emojis, you can use a third-party keyboard app. First, open the Google Play Store and search for “keyboard” or “keyboard apps.” Then select the one you want. Follow the instructions to install it on your phone and activate it as your default keyboard app.
Find out all you need to know about using your new Google Pixel 6a
To get the most out of your Google Pixel 6a, it’s important to set up a few things. You must create a Google account on your phone, set up the apps you want installed, and connect to Wi-Fi.
The first step is creating a Google account for your new phone. This will allow you to access all of Google’s services such as Gmail and YouTube videos. If you already have an existing Google account then log into that one instead or if you have never created one before follow these steps:
- Go to Settings > Accounts > Add Account > Google (or just click ‘+’ in the lower right corner)
- Follow instructions on screen
In the end, there are some important things to remember. First of all, if you have an older phone that is no longer functional, don’t put off getting a new one. Second of all, it’s important to get familiar with all of your new devices features so that you can really use it effectively in your everyday life!
